La Plagne 2017

From 11th to 18th March twenty skiers, snowboarders and guides from ASD went to La Plagne on a combined trip with SSCD skiers and guides.  Fresh snow from the previous week, followed by 6 days of sunshine and blue skies – what more could we want?  Definitely suncream and plenty of water was the order of the day.

We stayed at the Hotel Terra Nova which was 50 metres to the nearest lift and right on the edge of the nursery slope. Each day we set out from the hotel in small groups exploring different areas of the mountain, highlights among the younger members included the Fun run, which was full of rollers and jumps, and drinking hot chocolate at the Bergerie while listening to live music. In addition, we all enjoyed the extensive skiing and views towards Mont Blanc in one direction and Courchevel in the other.

ASD members also swept the board in the end of week awards with Ian Bain receiving the most improved skier, Paul Dench the guides award, Mike Nell the most improved snowboarder and not forgetting Adrian Carey’s award for the best trousers!

All the ASD skiers made fantastic progress whilst having lots of laughs both on and off the slopes, as well as making new friends.  A big thank you to everyone involved in the organisation of the trip. For photos of the trip please visit the Gallery page.
