Guide Training Weekend

Our 2019 Training Weekend was run on the 29th & 30th June and it broke a few records.  It was the hottest weekend of the year so far and the Southern Ski for the Disabled (SSCD) Training Team delivered their SSCD Grade 3 Guide disability awareness course to no less than 27 eager students, the largest group that they have taught to date.  Of these 1 was from the SSCD Club, Knockhatch, 1 was from the staff at the Southampton slope the rest were ASD members so we have lots of new trainee Grade 3 Guides who will be logging their hours towards having their full qualification confirmed over the coming months.

Six of our existing Guides were able to refresh their qualification and one has had this accepted by BASI as their Adaptive refresher which is testament to the quality of the instruction and value of the course.

Over the 2 days the students were able to try out all manner of equipment and techniques both as Guides and Skiers covering a huge range of disabilities to equip them with the knowledge and techniques to be able to enable our Skiers to enjoy our sport and to be able to empathise with their needs and what they are experiencing on the slope.
